poem

Once a month there is something that is called Roundtable. For those of you who are familiar with scouts you might know what this is. It is a once a month meeting that you can go to for updates on what will be going on in the coming month for scouts. Anyway they hand out a packet with some great ideas for den leaders and cubmasters. This month had a great poem I wanted to share. Our theme for March is "Take Flight".

CHILDREN ARE LIKE KITES by Santa Clara County Council

You spend years trying to get them off the ground.
You run with them until you are both breathless. They crash ... they hit the roof ... you patch, comfort and assure them that someday they will fly.
Finally, they are airborne.
They need more string, and you keep letting it out.
They tug, and with each twist of the twine, there is sadness that goes with joy.
The kite becomes more distant, you know it won't be long before that beautiful creature will snap the lifeline that binds you together and will soar as meant to soar ... free and alone.
Only then do you know that you have done your job.

I also really like this
Prayer: Dreams Taking Flight
"Thank you, God, for the dreams of the people who gave us the possibilities of flight. Thank you for the birds that inspired them as examples of how to do it. And thank you for the courage of those who kept trying until they succeeded."

Jeffrey

Here are a couple of projects Jeffrey has done for Scouts. The flowers are for a patch, he has to plant and keep a flower bed.
Here is a cake that he made for our Blue and Gold Dinner as well as for the the 100 year birthday of scouts. He decorated it in like the blue and gold segment the boys were able to earn from me.

funny video

This video was taken while the boys ate airheads that they got for Valentines Day.

(ok so I have never uploaded a movie to the blog so if you get an empty space where the video should be you can just use your imagination.)

Jason

Check out my handsome hubby. He had to go to a fundraiser event for work and got to wear this spiffy uniform (he doesn't think of it as spiffy but what does he know).

Camping

So what does an awesome father who has had no time but to go to work and fulfill his church callings do with his first free time in weeks? He takes his boys camping.
We are lucky to live right down the road from a state park. Here the boys went off on their bikes and camped out for the night. When I asked Jeffrey if he had as much fun as he hoped he said that it was even funner than he thought it would be.
Dad giving the 'shaka' sign.
The boys coming out of the shortcut that goes from the park to the road in front of our street.

Here is our dinner picnic. You can see their tent in the background.

Jeffrey giving a face :)

Check out my Jonah. He just completed his Kindergarten Hooked on Phonics. We are so very proud of him, he worked really hard to finish this. Does he not look the cutest. :)
